Service Description
This (9am-5pm) two day, Level 3 accredited qualification gives delegates the knowledge and skill set to be workplace Mental Health First Aiders. You will discuss and practice how to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions, and explore how these may present in and out of the work environment, as well as how to effectively signpost a person towards the right mental health support. Suitable for all persons wanting an in depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect a persons wellbeing, coupled with practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental illness; which will lead on to developing an understanding and confidence around what we can do to and how to perform Mental health first aid. Key skills, practical advice and knowledge on how to implement reasonable mental health adjustments within the workplace will be delivered as well as information on how to support individuals who have a mental health conditions when they return to work, following an absence. We explore the skills, attitudes and the practical elements needed to create a positive mental health culture in the workplace, for you to implement within your company and begin the process of effective change. Topics covered over your two day course will include: What is Mental Health? The Fluidity of Mental Health Action planning within the workplace Listening skills and tools Mental illness Stress Depression Suicide Self-Harm Anxiety Disorders Bi-Polar Disorder Eating Disorders Psychosis Recovery Legislation prejudice and Discrimination The role of a Mental Health First Aider Implementing good practice in the workplace As well as 'take-away' activities and 'things to look up later', to cement your understanding even further. We recognise that these are very emotive subjects and whilst every effort has been made to ensure that we minimise the chance of distress, there is a chance you may feel uncomfortable or emotional, with elements of the content. Your wellbeing is priority and please do speak to your instructor if you feel overwhelmed or excuse your self from the activity. Your instructor is available prior to and directly after the course, should you need to discuss this. Your qualification will be based on the results (Pass or Refer) of a multiple choice assessment at the end of your second day. Cancellation Policy
Places are non-refundable, however they are transferable and you will be offered an alternative date, to move your booking to. To qualify for a booking transfer, requests must be made 3 working days prior to start date of course.
